I submitted my Ph.D. thesis today.  Once it arrives in the U.K., it will be bound, registered with the academic office, and sent off to an internal and an external examiner (in sha allah). The viva (oral defense) is currently set for 21 September and my external examiner will be Prof. John Tolan (Universite de Nantes [France]).

I titled the thesis: “Pathways of Orthodoxy: Strategies for Christian Identity in Light of Islam in Medieval Spain.”  Catchy isn’t it?  It is a handsome 346 pages of single-sided, double-spaced A4 paper and came in just a handful of words shy of my 80,000 word limit.

What will I do now?

  1. Prepare for my viva.
  2. Prepare for my Symposium presentation.
  3. Delve ever-deeper into my 30′s.
  4. Continue to look for a job.
  5. Develop methods of avoiding diarrhea as a symptom for stress.
